Reverse-Acting Design: The EDR is distinguished by its reverse-style trim, where the valve plug opens when the stem is pushed down. This is an essential mechanical feature for specific fail-safe requirements or when paired with certain types of actuators to achieve a desired fail-open or fail-close response.
Balanced Plug Performance: By utilizing a balanced plug, the EDR equalizes the pressure across the valve trim. This reduces the force required from the actuator, allowing for precise control of high-pressure process loops with smaller, more efficient pneumatic or electric actuators.
High-Temperature Capability: Through the use of multiple graphite piston rings, the EDR maintains Class IV shutoff integrity at temperatures as high as 593°C (1100°F). For processes requiring even tighter sealing, the C-seal trim option is available to achieve Class V shutoff at these extreme temperatures.
Rugged Cage Guiding: The valve plug is continuously supported by a heavy-duty cage. This robust guiding system minimizes lateral movement and vibration, which is critical for reducing mechanical noise and preventing premature wear in high-velocity steam or hydrocarbon service.
Low-Emission Stem Sealing: The EDR is compatible with ENVIRO-SEAL™ packing systems. These live-loaded PTFE or Graphite systems ensure consistent sealing pressure on the stem, helping facilities reduce process fluid loss and comply with fugitive emission standards.
Corrosion and Wear Resistance: Standard trim is constructed from hardened stainless steel for superior erosion resistance. For sour gas or corrosive services, materials are available to meet NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and MR0103 standards.
