Integrated Three-in-One Measurement The SMV800 measures differential pressure and static pressure from a single integrated sensor, while a standard Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) or thermocouple provides the process temperature. An internal microprocessor processes these inputs to calculate a fourth variable: the compensated mass or volume flow rate.
Dynamic Flow Compensation Standard flow measurement often ignores changes in fluid density. The SMV800 dynamically accounts for fluctuations in pressure and temperature, automatically correcting for changes in fluid density, viscosity, and discharge coefficients. This is critical in steam and gas applications where environmental swings can otherwise lead to significant measurement errors.
Industry Standard Calculation Methods The transmitter’s internal flow engine supports globally recognized standards, including ASME, ISO, AGA, and GOST. This ensures that flow calculations are compliant with regulatory requirements and suitable for internal cost accounting or custody transfer applications.
Modular Platform and Easy Maintenance As part of the SmartLine family, the SMV800 features a unique modular design. The display, communication module, and terminal block are interchangeable. The advanced graphics display allows operators to monitor all four variables (DP, SP, Temp, and Flow) simultaneously, complete with trend charts and diagnostic health alerts.
Reduced Installation Complexity Using one SMV800 transmitter does the work of three separate instruments. This results in fewer process penetrations, less impulse piping, and reduced electrical wiring. Beyond capital savings, fewer penetrations mean fewer potential leak points, enhancing overall plant safety.
