Critical Technical Advantages
Maximum Shutoff Capability: Because the HPNS is an unbalanced valve, it does not utilize the internal piston rings or seals found in balanced designs. This eliminates potential leak paths through the plug and allows the actuator to apply 100% of its force directly onto the seat, facilitating superior shutoff performance in high-pressure steam and liquid lines.
Rugged Cage-Guided Stability: The valve plug is continuously supported by a heavy-duty cage. This design provides the mechanical stiffness necessary to resist lateral vibration and mechanical noise, which are common in high-pressure drop applications that can lead to premature trim failure in less robust valves.
Premium Pressure Boundary Sealing: The HPNS uses high-performance spiral-wound gaskets as standard. Constructed from Alloy 600/Graphite or Alloy X750/Graphite, these gaskets provide excellent resilience against thermal cycling and the extreme mechanical stresses typical of high-pressure utility services.
Intermediate Pressure Ratings: For applications exceeding standard ASME Class 1500 limits, the HPNS can be supplied with weld-end fittings that carry intermediate ratings per ASME B16.34. This ensures a safe and compliant pressure boundary for modern high-energy piping systems.
Standard Hardened Trim: To combat erosion and “wiredrawing,” the cage, plug, and seat ring are manufactured from hardened materials as standard. This wear resistance is essential for maintaining control accuracy over a long service life in abrasive or high-velocity environments.
Top-Entry Quick Change Trim: Maintenance is simplified by the top-entry design. All internal components can be removed and replaced using common tools without removing the valve body from the pipeline, significantly reducing labor time and process downtime.
