Technical Characteristics and Accuracy
-
Superior 0.8 mm Precision: The FMR532 is designed for “legal-for-trade” measurements. Its 2σ (two-sigma) value of 0.8 mm provides the level of certainty required by national metrology bodies like NMi and PTB.
-
Planar Antenna for Stilling Wells: The flat, planar antenna design is specifically suited for mounting on stilling wells. Unlike horn antennas that can be affected by the pipe’s internal wall, the planar antenna launches a wave that is optimized for travel within a pipe, reaching ranges up to 38 meters.
-
Drip-Off Design: To prevent measurement errors in tanks where evaporation and condensation are common, the antenna features a unique drip-off geometry. This ensures that liquid droplets do not accumulate on the sensor face, which would otherwise cause signal attenuation or false readings.
-
Cost-Effective 4-Wire Installation: The FMR532 simplifies site wiring by utilizing a 4-wire cable with HART communication and a 24 V DC intrinsically safe power supply. This reduces installation complexity while maintaining high-speed data transmission for integration into tank gauging systems.
-
Tank Side Monitor Integration: For a complete tank farm solution, the FMR532 can be integrated with the Tank Side Monitor NRF590. This allows for the combination of level data with temperature and pressure measurements to calculate net standard volume and mass.
-
Reliability and Safety: Developed to meet SIL standards and WHG overfill prevention requirements, the device ensures that high-accuracy business data is backed by high-level process safety.

Primary Applications
-
Custody Transfer in Stilling Wells: High-precision level measurement in storage tanks where a stilling well is used to eliminate surface turbulence or foam.
-
Floating Roof Tanks: Ideal for use in the guide poles or stilling wells of external and internal floating roof tanks in refineries and terminals.
-
High-Value Hydrocarbon Storage: Accurate inventory management for gasoline, diesel, and other refined products where small measurement errors represent significant financial loss.
-
Pressurized Storage: Monitoring levels in chemical or LPG storage tanks where pressures reach up to 25 bar.
-
Stand-Alone Tank Gauging: Suitable for use as a primary level sensor or as part of a distributed tank farm monitoring network.
