Critical Technical Advantages

Excellent Dynamic Flow Control: The V280 utilizes a splined shaft-to-actuator connection, which significantly reduces deadband and lost motion. Combined with double power-end bushing assemblies and precision trunnion guiding, this architecture provides the mechanical “stiffness” required for accurate throttling throughout the entire rotation.

Advanced Noise and Vibration Attenuation: For high-pressure gas service, the V280 can be equipped with an Aerodome attenuator. A single-stage construction can achieve up to -20 dBA acoustical attenuation, while a dual-stage setup can reach up to -25 dBA. This protects both the valve and the surrounding piping from ultrasonic damage and structural vibration.

Hydrodynamic Performance: For liquid applications, Hydrodome attenuators are available to manage cavitation. Depending on service conditions, a cavitation index (KC) value of 1.0 is achievable, allowing the valve to operate in high-recovery scenarios without the destructive effects of hydrodynamic noise or pitting.

Innovative “Clean” Seal Design: A key feature of the V280 is that the attenuator is not part of the seal assembly. The seal wipes the smooth ball surface rather than the perforated attenuator, which drastically increases the service life of the seating components compared to integrated designs.

Pressure-Assisted Tight Shutoff: The valve employs self-adjusting, pressure-assisted seals. A heavy-duty S31600 stainless steel carrier retains the composition seal, ensuring it stays in place and maintains a tight shutoff even under full-rated pressure drops.

Construction Versatility and Simplicity: The V280 is designed for field flexibility. The valve’s performance can be altered by adding or removing dome attenuators and seals without changing the tailpieces. This “modular” approach allows the valve to adapt to changing process demands over the life of the plant.

NACE Standard Compliance: Standard construction materials are compliant with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, making the V280 fully capable of handling sour gas and sour crude oil applications without the risk of sulfide stress cracking.
