Critical Technical Advantages
Maximum Shutoff Integrity: Because the HPS is an unbalanced valve, it does not require the internal seal rings or piston rings used in balanced designs. This simplifies the trim and allows the actuator to apply 100% of its force directly onto the valve seat, achieving the highest possible shutoff class for critical steam and hydrocarbon lines.
Rugged Cage Guiding: The HPS utilizes a heavy-duty cage to provide continuous guiding for the valve plug throughout its travel. This mechanical stability is essential for reducing vibration and mechanical noise, which are often the primary causes of trim failure in high-pressure drop environments.
Superior Gasket Technology: To maintain a reliable pressure boundary under extreme conditions, the HPS features premium spiral-wound gaskets. These are constructed from high-performance materials like Alloy 600 or Alloy X750 with graphite, ensuring resilience against thermal cycling and high-pressure fluctuations.
Intermediate Pressure Ratings: For piping systems that exceed standard ASME Class 1500 limits, the HPS with weld-end fittings can be supplied with intermediate ratings according to ASME B16.34. This allows the valve to meet the requirements of modern high-energy utility cycles.
Wear-Resistant Hardened Trim: Hardened stainless steel is standard for the cage, valve plug, and other critical trim components. This provides exceptional resistance to erosion and “wiredrawing,” extending the service life of the valve in high-velocity services.
Top-Entry Maintenance: The HPS features “Quick Change Trim,” allowing technicians to remove all internal parts from the top of the valve using common tools. This can be done without removing the valve body from the pipeline, significantly reducing labor and downtime.
