Critical Technical Advantages
-
Continuous Process Availability: The integrated compression fitting creates a pressure-tight seal around the inserted sensor. If a probe fails or requires calibration, it can be swapped out without suspending the process, draining tanks, or venting pipes.
-
Multi-Probe Compatibility: The TW251 is an “open” platform for sensing. It is compatible with a wide range of 6 mm diameter devices, including the TMR31/TMR35 compact series and various TSC/TPR cable probes. This allows you to standardize your thermowells even if you use different sensor technologies across the plant.
-
Versatile Mounting Options: The sales structure offers a broad array of process connections. You can select standard threads (G 1/2″, NPT 1/2″) for easy installation into existing ports, or choose weld-in versions (cylindrical or spherical) for permanent, high-integrity attachment to vessels and pipes.
-
Specialized Sealing Sleeves: To suit different chemical and thermal requirements, the internal compression sleeve is available in two materials. SS 316 (Stainless Steel) provides a permanent, high-pressure metal-to-metal seal, while PTFE (Teflon) offers excellent chemical resistance and allows for easier adjustment of the probe’s immersion depth.
-
Certified Material Traceability: For regulated industries, the 3.1.B material certificate (EN 10204) is directly selectable. This provides a documented “paper trail” confirming the chemical and physical properties of the stainless steel used in the thermowell’s construction.
Technical Performance Matrix

Primary Applications
-
Machinery Maintenance: Protecting sensors in oil or coolant lines where frequent sensor replacement is expected due to high vibration.
-
Hygienic Utility Lines: Monitoring water or cleaning fluid temperatures in food plants where a welded or threaded connection is required but 3-A/EHEDG certification for the well itself is sufficient.
-
Retrofit Projects: Using the threaded version to add a protective well to existing pipe T-pieces or vessel nozzles.
-
Chemical Processing: Providing a protective barrier for cable probes in non-corrosive or mildly corrosive gaseous and liquid media.
-
Tank Monitoring: Using spherical weld-in versions to install temperature sensors at an angle on curved tank walls.
