Technical Functionality and SensorFusion
-
Redundant Measurement Principle: In standard interface applications, radar pulses often dissipate in thick emulsion layers (rag layers), leading to signal loss. The FMP55 uses GWR for the overall level and the capacitive principle to track the interface. If the radar signal becomes too weak due to an emulsion, the capacitive measurement takes over automatically to ensure continuous data.
-
Simultaneous Level and Interface: The device provides two distinct output signals at the same time: the total level of the upper medium and the exact position of the interface layer. This eliminates the need for two separate sensors in a single vessel.
-
Multi-Echo Tracking Evaluation: Advanced echo filtering allows the FMP55 to distinguish between the true liquid level and interference from tank internals, baffles, or agitators. This ensures the radar component of SensorFusion remains accurate even in turbulent process conditions.
-
Heartbeat Technology: This integrated suite allows for continuous self-diagnostics and traceable verification. It can identify process-related issues, such as probe coating or significant changes in the dielectric constant, without interrupting the measurement.
-
HistoROM Data Management: All configuration parameters and event logs are stored on an integrated memory chip. This facilitates rapid commissioning and ensures that device settings can be instantly restored if the electronics are replaced.
-
SIL3 Safety Integrity: Designed according to IEC 61508, the FMP55 is suitable for use in high-level safety loops. It features a simplified proof-testing procedure that allows for functional safety checks without removing the probe from the tank.
